Behind the Elli Mac Brand
Branding is such a huge part of who you are as a business. Because I believe that with a strong foundation of your brand, I like to take the time to make sure everything has a reason and a place in my story. As I shared on Instagram, the inspiration behind the visual branding for Elli Mac is all things involving palm trees🌴 pineapples🍍and tropical flora like hibiscus 🌺 and plumerias.
Design is the silent ambassador for your brand. – Paul Rand
I was strategic in making sure that my design spoke to who I am, visually, as a brand. Why? Well, to me, those things are magical. Kind of like my Disney obsession, I have always loved pineapples, tropical flowers, and palm trees. I can't remember a time when I wasn't entranced by the swaying of palms or the sweetness of a pineapple. My husband, Jeff, and I honeymooned in Hawaii and all five of our children have Hawaiian names. Palm trees will also always be reminders of my childhood and early adolescence in Los Angeles.
I wanted tangible representations of those items in my branding because they evoke happiness, joy and magic in my spirit. In past business branding, I've used pinks and blues in my logos and collateral, but this time I dove into greens, representing life and growth. The golds represent prosperity and success. The pinks – sheer joy and happiness.
Since green is not my favorite color, it took a bit to succumb to the right shades, and eventually I found colors that worked really well. I wanted everything to have that connection of rebirth, happiness, success and growth, as I am optimistic that this year will absolutely amazing for myself and my clients.
Some also might be wondering - Why "Elli Mac?" Who the heck is that? Haha. It is me. :) Well, it is my first name (Camille) spelled backwards. A few people will get a little chuckle out of me naming my company this, but let's just say it is representative my alter ego personality and just "doing the damn thing" or getting stuff done, kinda like Olivia Pope. You are more than welcome to read more of my story here.
I'm super excited to finalize my business cards this weekend and send them to print so I can hit the ground running on this new journey. Let's do this, 2017!
